William Dunlops trip to Sundays penultimate round of the 2009 Relentless British 125GP Championship meeting ended before it got started, when a misfire on the PJ Flynn Honda resulted in Dunlop only managing to compete six laps of the Northamptonshire circuit before having to call it quits. Dunlops trip however heralded the news that the 24 year old Ballymoney rider will compete a full season in 2010 in the British Championships under the KRP Racing banner in the 125cc class.
William Dunlop: "Things did not go so well today. After a bad qualifying on Saturday (18th) I thought to myself things cannot get much worse, but they did. The wee bike started to misfire on the warm up lap and I pulled into the pits to try and sort it out, but that meant I had to start from pit lane. On the first lap, it started again, but I wanted to race so badly that I tried to keep her going, but after six laps I had to call it a day. It has not been a complete waste of time, as I have decided to compete in the 2010 British 125 Championships under the KRP Honda Team, which is run and owned by Mark Kneen. Mark has worked with dad and I and we knew each other very well, so that is a good starting point. Hopefully I will be able to let you know more in the coming days".
