Team Blackhorse Yamaha riders Ian Lougher and Olie Linsdell were once again at the cutting edge of proceedings during the annual Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup meeting at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough.
Ian dominated the Stu Reed 125cc GP event by winning all three races and also won the Darran Lindsay 600cc Trophy on the Team Blackhorse Yamaha Supersport R6 where he came from sixth on the opening lap to take the honours. He also came close to winning the Lee Pullan 250cc Trophy, narrowly losing out to William Dunlop by just 0.233 seconds.
Lougher, the most successful rider ever round Oliver's Mount with 114 wins, also secured a further two runner-ups, two thirds and two fourths over the course of the weekend, just missing out on a podium place in the feature Gold Cup race by less than three hundreds of a second.
Meanwhile Oliver's Mount debutant Linsdell gave a good account of himself by finishing third in the Superbike 'B' final and registering 7th place finishes in the first leg of the Stu Reed 125cc GP event and the Phil Mellor Trophy race respectively.
Ian Lougher:
"Overall I'm pleased with how the weekend panned out. Winning the 125cc races and Sunday's 600cc race was great. The 600 races are always the hardest to win and coming through from sixth on the opening lap to catch and pass Guy Martin, William Dunlop, Ryan Farquhar and John McGuinness gave me a lot of satisfaction and proves I still have the drive to win!
Olie had a mixed time as a newcomer to the circuit, culminating in a couple of seventh place finishes, only to be knocked off his 125 while lying in fourth position. However, he enjoyed the meeting and looks forward to returning next year."
Olie Linsdell:
"Scarborough was a mixed weekend for me. It served its purpose in that I had fun and learned the circuit ready for next year. It's just a shame that my weekend was cut short just as I'd started getting to grips with the place!
Now we're looking ahead to Silverstone where I hope to carry on our good form in the National 600 Superstock Championship."
The team now head to Silverstone this weekend for the penultimate British Superbike Championship meeting where Olie will be joined by Manxman Conor Cummins who will compete in the BSB Superstock 1000cc Championship round.
