Team Blackhorse Yamaha - North-West 200 Preview PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

The Kennedy International North-West 200 is once again upon us and it will be a busy time for Team Blackhorse Yamaha manager/rider Ian Lougher as he juggles his own racing commitments with that of his young team mate Olie Linsdell.

The event also heralds the start of Ian’s competitive season and the experienced Welshman will once again be at the cutting edge for honours in all five events he starts.

Both Superbike races, the second of which is sponsored by Blackhorse Motorcycle Finance, will see Ian on the highly tuned state of the art Team Blackhorse Yamaha 2008 R1 Superbike, recently tested to good effect at Darley Moor. The two Supersport 600cc races will be contested on the team’s equally effective 2008 R6 Yamaha whilst the Team Blackhorse Yamaha totally stock 2008 R1 Yamaha machine will be brought to the line for the Superstock race.

Olie Linsdell arrives at the NorthWest 200 on the back of a brilliant sixth place finish from the fourth row of the grid in the third round of the National Junior Superstock Championship at Brands Hatch at the weekend.

The young Bedfordshire rider, who sensationally won the 400cc race at last year’s meeting, taking pole position and the lap record in the process, will be looking for strong performances again this year and can only benefit further from the wealth of track and technical knowledge from team boss Lougher, an eight times winner on the famous Portstewart-Coleraine-Portrush triangle circuit.

This year Olie will not only be defending his 400cc crown on his privately entered Yamaha but is also entered in both Supersport 600cc races, the Superstock class and the second Superbike race under the Team Blackhorse Yamaha banner.

Look out for a familiar face at the Team Blackhorse Yamaha race set-up in the paddock. Actor Dominic Brunt, who plays vet Paddy Kirk in the popular soap Emmerdale, will be a guest of the team on race day.
