With heavy snow forcing the cancellation of the British Superbike programme at Brands Hatch, Team Blackhorse Yamaha again take to the road this week for what has now become the first round of the National Junior 600cc Superstock Championship at Thruxton.
Formerly a World War Two airbase, the 2.4 mile Thruxton circuit in the Hampshire countryside is recognised as one of the fastest in the series, it’s also a demanding track consisting of long fast straights, high speed turns as well as tight demanding chicane sections.
Team Blackhorse Yamaha teamster Olie Linsdell can’t wait for Thruxton after impressing in pre-season testing where he was quick to familiarise himself with the team’s four cylinder Yamaha R6 Superstock bike.
"I'm looking forward to Thruxton. It’s not a track that I have a lot of experience at, but most people are in the same boat. The team knows each other well now and I love the bike so I'm sure we can be pushing right at the sharp end. Thruxton has some of the fastest corners in the country so let’s hope it brings out the road racer in me!"
Team manager Ian Lougher added:
“It was disappointing that the bad weather left the organisers with no choice but to postpone the first round at Brands Hatch. The re-scheduling of the event on May 10th - 11th will present us with a logistical challenge as it is the weekend before the North-West 200, but as always we’ll cope.
“The team is raring to go, Olie looks right at home on the Yamaha R6 Superstock bike and we’re confident of a good result at Thruxton.”
