Following the wintry conditions at Snetterton, Team Blackhorse Yamaha were greeted with somewhat more pleasant conditions as they arrived in Valencia for the Official Yamaha Team Test at the weekend.
With the weather being so poor in the UK the previous week, the team were really in the mood for some meaningful testing, with team owner/rider Ian Lougher particularly keen to get in the saddle for the first time in 2008. Olie Linsdell was eager to build on his promising form at Snetterton on the 2008 R6 Superstock bike and also get to grips with the 1000cc R1 Superstock machine for the first time.
In conjunction with the customary track action, the three day test also included a couple of very informative classes each day which gave team personnel the chance to familiarise themselves with the technical side of the 2008 R1 and R6 models.
Making the most of the perfect weather conditions, the team worked hard throughout the weekend with Ian recording 180 laps and Olie putting in 200 laps.
Ian Lougher:
"That's more like it, we have had a very good test here in Valencia. Not only did we finally get the opportunity for some serious testing but it was also a good chance for everyone in the team to meet and work together for the first time.
We've now got a good base set-up for the suspension on both the R1 and R6 machines, something which is especially important for Olie with the first round of the Junior Superstock 600cc Championship less than a week away".
The team now head back to home shores and the famous Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent for the first Bennetts British Superbike meeting of the season this weekend 4/5/6 April.
