UPDATE
20 November
2008
G,day
everybody
There is plenty
to report on after the past two weeks away racing !
After a break
from racing early in the month it was on the plane over to Western
Australia to race in the “Kings Of Wanneroo” event that had an
entry of riders from Australia and the UK.
The event was
put together by the Western Australian motor cycle club and they
did a mega job to make it happen.
Inviting myself
and several other UK riders to compete against the current
Australian superbike champion and many top aussie lads all riding
locally prepared 1000cc super stock spec machines.
It was also a
good chance to see my brother Brad who lives on that side of the
country and as that is over 3500km from my place we don’t get to
meet up that often.
Overall the
weekend was a success with some very close racing although my fifth
position in the three races was not as high as I wanted to finish
but with Macau only days away I may have been taking a little to
much care.
The event was
won by Glen Allerton followed by John Laverty then my two team
mates Michael Laverty and Ian Lowry so it was some formation flying
for the three Suzuki team mates but just not in the order I would
have preferred.
Big thanks for
all the support over the weekend from my good mate Dave at Warp
Speed who was there to help sort the bike and just make the whole
weekend easy work as there was nothing he did not have handy or
know where to find.
Also Dave Venn
who was on the spanners for me and did a very thorough job with my
brother Brad as a helper we had a brilliant team and although it is
never easy to race a bike that is new and being sorted as the race
weekend unfolds we all had fun and enjoyed the
event.
Thanks to Paul
Lindsey from Irish Racer magazine and the club for all the work
involved in making such a huge race meeting happen.
From Perth it
was back on the plane and over to Hong Kong where I met my uncle
Ron at the airport and straight on the ferry to
Macau.
It was my first
time at Macau with a bike I had ridden before in several years so I
was pumped about getting back onboard my Relentless superbike that
took me to victory at the TT and although my regular crew Leigh and
Denver could not make the trip I was still working with lads from
the TAS team.
From the first
lap out I knew we would have a good chance in the race as my
GSXR1000 just felt like home and we ended up qualifying
3rd fastest for Saturdays 15 lap Macau GP
race.
All was going
to plan as the race began and I followed Michael Rutter on the
Ducati around the twisty section of the circuit before taking the
lead under brakes into the final turn.
Once in the
lead I could comfortably put some space between the field and
myself and all was working well for a race win to top the year off
but it was not meant to be as heading onto the main straight on lap
5 of 15 the bike stopped.
I am still not
100% sure what the cause of the failure was but the dash went out
and there was no power to any of the electrics and I rolled to a
stop and kissed my Macau GP win goodbye...
My crew for the
weekend of Davy, Stevie, Mark & Mark had worked so hard all
weekend that we were all shattered to not finish but a thank you to
all of them for there effort.
So after the GP
it was out to the annual after party that is always an amazing
night of food and entertainment put on by the GP
organizers.
As my cousin
who lives in Hong Kong was over for the race with my uncle it was
nice to spend some time with them and relax after a day of
disappointment.
So now I am
back at home to start enjoying some of the Australian summer and
swap my race bike for the water ski !
Although I plan
to get down to Phillip Island for one more track day on my GSXR1000
before the year is out.
Cheers

TT 2008
!!
30 May
2008
G,day
everybody
After a
strong start to practice week the weather at the Isle Of Man
stepped in with cloud and rain causing us to miss both tuesday
and wednesday nights practice.
With the sun
returning for thursday we made the most of the conditions and
put in another two laps on the superbike and my first two laps out
on the GSXR600 supersport machine.
As we have
lost valuable on track set up time it is now a case of making some
educated guess work and settling on a race set up.
With the
weather looking clear we should get another good run tonight before
the TT race week begins tomorrow.
Race one of
the five race schedule is the six lap Superbike race kicking off at
noon Saturday.
After
missing last years TT I could have done with the extra laps we
missed in practice this week but overall I am happy with all three
bikes and cant wait to get that first race done!
Bring It On

Northwest
200
Podium !!
20 May
2008
G'day
everybody !
The
northwest 200 is now done and dusted and what a huge week it
was!
After a
positive two evenings of practice I was confident heading into
saturdays five races.
It turned
into an up and down day when sitting in a strong third position in
the first superbike race a small stone became jammed in the
throttle body to stick my throttle wide open on the entry to
Metrapole corner!
Then after a
thrilling superstock battle I led the race down the final section
of the coast road only to be passed into the final chicane having
to settle for third place.
In the
Feature race of the day on the superbike all was looking good as I
sat back while the riders ahead traded places and on the final lap
I took the lead and almost had it until Michael Rutter and Steve
Plater passed up the inside into the final chicane both running
onto the grass ! I passed Michael back to take second place
!
So overall
some great results in the closest racing ever seen at the Northwest
200 and a perfect lead up to TT.
This week
the team is over the water to the Isle Of Man where practice for TT
2008 begins this saturday evening.
Bring It
On...
Cheers
