By good chance I happened upon an hour long program of this years Kells Road Races on the Men and Motors channel last night.

It was fairly well put together but to anybody from further afield looking in I am sure they couldn't help but be impressed. The whole presentation of the circuit looked well even down to the grass verges. The synopsis of the show was described by MandM as TT racing on Irish roads; whilst not technically correct I guess it might educate the uniniated.

What struck me whilst watching the show as well as enjoying the racing was whether there was any potential to package together an entire season of Road Races both North and South and show the programs as quickly after the meeting as possible. Would any production company have an interest in doing this? BBC NI of course have been showing highlights of National NI races for over 10 years but it would be great to bring it all under one umbrella and really make a feature of it.

Do we feel there is a need to market our sport to a wider audience internationally? Do we need more people attending our local races? Do we want our sport to become more commercial, more professional and ultimately bring more money into it?
I look at some aspects of road racing and think it is ok but I feel there is an unbelievable product there that could be built up to something huge and bring much better rewards for those involved. On the other hand, do people want that? Are we happy having keeping this great sport to ourselves and continuing on as we are? That is not a loaded question; I am just interested in where people see the sport going.

i think more televised coverage would be great for road racing and bike racing in general, road racing get's very little coverage as it is so why not bring it to a wider audience.i may have said this before on this site'why does bike racing be it road, moto, bsb, get so little coverage in the news papers and tv??? yet if any of the f1 crowd have a flat tyre it's a full page for them, i have seen f1 get full page and moto gp get a 5 inch square column i think its time things changed, so bring road racing to the television.does the tt not deserve to be shown we have to put up with tennis for a week or two so why not bike racing? rant over my fingers are sore.
