Is this a bloody joke. What practice has Simmo put in recently to qualify for one of the fastest road races in the world. If he loses it due to lack of preparation the media will have a field day. It's a joke, isn't it. Someone please say yes.

On an old 350 I have been told. Simmo was great but unfortunately that sort of preparation is just not enough for the NW. Like old boxers, we all think we can get up there and do it like flicking on a switch. Unfortunately we are not all Mike Hailwoods. Sorry if I sounded demeaning, I have the height of respect for Simmo, I just didn't want to see him finish embarrassingly far down the field or worse, just because of who he once was, and what he may think he can do. All the best to Simmo. It's nice to see him back on a bike.

We are all entitled to our opinion. Ian won his last race at the NW200 in 1998 at a speed of 113.54mph. I remember it well, with Simmos Honda spittng fire on the overrun. However, the race times have since increased to 122.807 posted by John McGuinness last year, with a best lap of 123.275 by Steve Plater. Do you honestly expect us to believe that Ian could safely get up to speed and live with that company after a couple of practice sessions. It could be an accident waiting to happen. Anyway it's a moot point. He has obviously thought the better of it and withdrawn. Nuff said.
