Re:TT restricted areas 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
well 2 sessions in and ive heard nothing but moans from joe public(be it locals or visitors). This extends from the casual fan through to diehard supporters of the event.

Being told blatent lies over "not noticing a significant increase in Prohibited areas" has not gone down well. I plead with the organisers to admit they have overeacted on this issue and review it for future events. Otherwise i see a bleak future

Add this to blatent policies to extract as much cash as possible from all concerned at the grandstand(and come racedays no doubt other areas), and the laughable situation of unfull fields (i forsee less than 50 starters in the "exceptional" sidecar field and approximately ONLY 60-65 starters in saturdays superbike).

I know its so easy to be negative. but unfortunately EVERY fan i have spoken to cannot be wrong.
DTL, ACU, Act now before it is too late. You can have the best road rcares in the world racing but if there is no-one here to support it then the event is f**ked

Kev, by my estimates we are already at 63 starters for the Superbike race. That will likley be lower than 60 by Saturday. In all likelihood there will be a good deal less in the Senior. Less than 60 starting a Senior - that has to be some kind of record doesn't it? They can't even fill the grid for the 125 TT at Billown.

I believe there are only three newcomers in the solo events at this year's TT. Again, that must be some kind of record. I saw Paul Phillips defending this on another forum stating that there was no need for a flux of newcomers this year because of the success of prior rider recruitment campaigns. Sorry Paul, I agree with many of the things you have done with the TT but you are wrong on this one. When you are 30+ bikes down on a full grid, three newcomers does not cut it. It's OK having an elite field but there still needs to be a full field, particularly on a 38 mile course. There are going to be times during the racing where we are all bored stupid. Couple that with being treated like five year old children with these prohibited areas, it may be difficult to get fans back.

I agree with the comments here of kev02 and Alan. I was booked with Euromanx to go over there this week. Now manx2 have messed me around and I can't go until next week. Now I have been ripped off with this TT Live. I was still thinking of going but having read the prohibited areas book what is the point? I have cancelled my accommodation. Reckon I'll go to the world superbikes at Brands Hatch now instead.

This is a right mess. The Manx are unbelievable. It is as if I owe them for attending the TT. Well I don't so I won't be there. Good luck with that attitude.

Should also mention that I watched the supertock race on the mountain last year. It was a really small field and took ages for the cones to be put out. I did say at that time I wouldn't be back unless it changes. I really should have listened to myself because I was right.

Yours, a little pissed off.

Re:TT restricted areas 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
that utube link is prime example of an area where i would say 99% of ppl would agree SHOULD be prohibited.YET it is not. Infuriating

sad story Stevie but unfortunately 1 that will become all too common if this year is anything to go by.

DTL- If people do not come to the TT/MGP the IOM loses revenue.if the amount of revenue lost is greater then the costs/efforts/inconvieniences/tradgedies of staging the event then it becomes unviable to run. Forget the history and prestige of the event "getting it through the lean years". Basic economics will prevail im afraid. As most people come for the racing (as we are told by PP and the minister for tourism), then i would suggest you address this area and keep the people coming back. Otherwise there will be alot more sad tales like stevies. Believe it or not people do Like watching at places other than the grandstand fellas.

DTL- If u lose the support of the local population that is pro TT then the event is fu**ed. Well documented i know- but the local population really do push the boat out for the TT/MGP to allow the events to proceed as they do. Once people lose the "buzz and joys" that comes with TT/MGP im afraid the well oiled machine breaks down.
Ultimately despite the joys of years past, people will not be prepared to keep pushing the boat out and making personal sacrifices whilst getting nothing back from the event.
take the grandstand situation- Usually rammed with locals on practice nights(even in crap weather). Tonight yet again only 2people on it. If people lose that TT "buzz" then only negatives will occur

unfortunately after this year, unless something is done immediately, i can see both visitors and the local pro tt poulace drifitng away in equal measures.

Re:TT restricted areas 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Bray Hill seems to be as before judging by the published prohibited list but not sure what it's like on the ground.

It seems that a number of factors were taken into consideration when deciding prohibited areas. There are probably a few wee crannies one or two people could fit into that look dangerous but aren't prohibited (ie that Milntown video) but it seems they've deliberatley targeted the popular areas ie Ballig, Black Dub, Rhencullen, Alpine, Ballacrye, Wildlife Park etc. This may have the effect of moving people to other areas which then have to be made prohibited???
