I say well done to the Riders of the Irish Team some of who had other options to race else where but where honored enough to sacrifice that and just ride for their country while "Top Riders" didn't.
Looking forward to next year when the Celtic Races will be held at Mondello.
Can anyone tell me what makes a "Top Rider"
results and money.....

I understand that the Celtic Match Races were organised after the Mondello date was announced!!! I was also led to believe that this is not the first time that Scotland have played their card in this manner.
No criticism please of the riders who honoured their Mondello commitments, it's not every day in short circuit racing that such a lucrative prize fund was offered.
Perhaps the Celtic Match Race date in future years should be debated between the organising parties to guarantee that the best riders would be available and would attract the fans' interest.

You have some vaild points there, but that still does not give those people who are going round slagging of the riders who where asked to ride for the team the right to do it.

I was in NO way knocking the riders who represented Ireland but I read in another contribution to this topic criticism of the riders who did NOT represent their country and 'preferred the lure of the big money'.
I am sure that proper negotiation of the Celtic Match Race date would make a more than useful spectator attraction, bearing in mind that whatever club hosts the Celtic Match Races on behalf of the host country needs to have a supporting programme of races to balance the books.
I laugh at the reports that ALL races were won by a Scotsman on loan to Wales, makes a mockery of the Scots selectors!!! they couldn't be expected to get both decisions correct to suit Scotland.
Good on the Irish team it was recorded that ALL riders who were selected turned up and honoured their selection.

Were Wales and The Isle Of Man not racing last weekend ????
Lets face it, there was only going to be one Big winner at Mondello last weekend.

No worries Big D, I knew you where not criticizing them, and you are correct about another reply, I was wrong in criticizing those who didn't go.
In regards to the dates, Anyone who tries to sort them out will be well aware of the hassle involved. It is common practice now for the circuits to give the dates out and not for the clubs to select them. You can imagine the nightmare this causes. It is only really the Ulster Circuits that get a self selection process.

I think you will find D that all the Scottish championship dates have been finalised and advertised in BSN well before X mas.
Where as the MCUI are still dicking about feb/ march with dates, becuse they can agree on F.all
