ballykelly MAN of the meeting? 1 Month ago
Anyone else think that if you win 3 races in one day and come second in your other race you should be given the man of the meeting award?
Nigel Percy won both 125 races and one of the 250 races, coming second in the other 250 race and was overlooked for the man of the meeting award at todays Ballykelly ISB round organised by the coleraine club
The award was decided by one of our local hacks whom i have a great deal of time for but i think he got it wrong today. He gave the award to the Mar-Train team whos two riders won both superbike and 600 races,a great feat in itself but those riders only won 2 races each, wheras young Percy won 3 and came damn close to making it 4.
Man of the meeting awards are what they say,a personal achievment of a singular individual at a race meeting, not a team award, thats what team of the meeting awards are for and if there isnt one of those then, sorry, good result but no team award today.
Always remember mr Journo,3 is better than 2.

I think if you look at the history books a certain Mr Percy won our award last year. I wasn't there and didn't pick the winner so I'm not in a position to get involved in this year's debate but what I do know is this – there is no win rate criteria for the award. Our man at the races has total control and picks who he thinks did the best job. This year he picked the Mar-Train team. I can understand your frustration, but when so many riders have a good day it's a difficult decision to make.
