I think so. The rule is that you can't gain an advantage from cutting the chicane. But surely there should be some penalty. Imagine if there was a grass bank there - you wouldn't get away with it so easy!

quite. i reckon it sux bigtime (even though i like kagayama). the commentators kept saying that - as long as he doesn't gain any position - crap. by the rule-book that's the way it is, but how fair is it to the guys behind who you are likely to have messed up aswell... and like you say - if it would have been grass, or gravel for that matter...
ah well.
