there was no motogp. when the blue ribbon class was made up by blue-smookin 500 cc bikes.
i just watched through a season review from 1989.
the perfectionist eddie lawson and erv kanemoto finally getting things to play on song and the almost as perfect rainey makin a single mistake in sweden. rainey getting robbed by fim of points at spa-francorchamps.
crowd roaring their lungs out as mckenzie hits the front at donington.
schwants winning 6 races and also setting a world record of last lap crashes and mechanical failures while leading. stickin it up the inside of his good mate (NOT) rainey wherever he left a gap the size of a penny.
no traction control or start launch buttons. no switches for alternative ignitions mappings.
just cool powerslides and beautiful high-sides.
aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh...

The 250/125 classes were even better ! Full grids and close racing.
Spa-francorchamps and Hockenheim were circuits that were made for great racing.
