Bikes from the past 2 Years, 6 Months ago
The Van Shop showroom in Mallusk close to Boyds Quarry has two racing bikes formerly raced by Gary Cowan and Donny Robinson. The bikes are in mint condition from a great time in racing and are worth a peek if you are passing by, but pretend you are in to buy a transit  . Robinsons 125 has The Van Shop decals and is still a good advertisement. I dont know about Cowan's involvement. I recall Allen Autos on the Armagh Road had an early McCallen bike in their show room for years. Stone chips, cracks, dents and dirt all still on her. Totally original. Apart from the ones we see at the races, are there any other such local bikes of interest that are still accessible to us the joe public ?

Savo,

Robert Dunlops Treble winning 125 from 1990 and 1991 (NW 200, IOM TT and Ulster GP) is on display in the reception area of PJ O'Kane Transport In Ballerin near Garvagh. She is still in original condition and displayed along with many of Roberts trophys and momentos. In place now beside her sits Richard Brittons 2002 GXSR and Helmet together with many photos and memories of all the riders PJ has been involved with over the years. I don't think that there would be any objections to anyone calling to have a look as PJ is still very proud to have been involved in the sport.

There used to be a good display at the Ulster Transport Musem at Cultragh, I know they still have the bikes but don't know whose or how many.

Current 125 racer Jeff Shaw has an ex Mervyn Robinson 351 yamsel which his father bought to the robo in the early 70's but I do remember Joey Dunlop riding it a lot at the time winning the Southern 100 etc on it and Robo won the 500 Ulster Grand Prix on it in 75/76 ? ex rider John Smyth from Ballymena rides it at the parade laps and I think you can call and see it at Rent A Skip in Ballymena or see it out on track at the UGP /TT /etc looks a lot cleaner now than it did when Joey and Mervyn rode it !!

A friend of mine(cant say his name)from Cookstown area has an ex proddy bike of the late David Jefferies. He bought it of Hector Neil about 2 years ago and it set him back 13k!Its a total flyer and has been converted back for road use(Lights, indicators, speedoetc)but its still in TAS livery.Mate has had it at licence loosing speeds between Mathers x and portrush(Nutter)! He only takes it out on good days however ,he had a big problem with it when he got it.Was changing the oil and filter on it and the filter seal must have been dodgy and it chuked all the oil out of itself while he had left it ticking over in the yard.Fortunatley Hector fully rebuilt the engine for him under warranty. He,s promised me a run on it sometime(lookin forward to that one) so Il tell you what way it goes when it happens.
