Laverty replaces Foret in team 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Eugene Laverty will replace the injured Fabien Foret in the official Yamaha World Supersport team for the next two rounds of the series in September.
The Toomebridge rider will compete at Donington on 7 September and at Vallelunga in Italy on 21 September.
Foret is recovering from injuries he suffered at Brno in the Czech Republic but hopes to race again this season.
Laverty was third in the 2006 British Supersport series but has struggled in the 250cc grand prix class since then.
He rode for the LCR Honda team in the 2007 season and switched to Blusens Aprilia this year, but has not made the impact that he would have liked.
The 22-year-old was recently offered the chance to ride for the Stobart Honda team in two World Superbike rounds at Brands Hatch and Donington but was unable to accept the invitation after intervention from his grand prix team.
Laverty will be racing against his compatriot Jonathan Rea in the two World Supersport races.
Do you think Eugene is as good as his own PR ? He did well in BSB 600 but 250 GP'S are a big step up.I know his bike isn't the latest but if he's so talented he should be doing better.
I think Eugene should get back in BSB 600 or the Superbike class. Wasting his time in GP'S

12th in the Donington WSS race; thought he would have done better. Terrible result for a man who has been saying he just needs the machinery to do well.

He had one dryish session before the race, his only dry time on the bike, it was obvious towards the end of the race his pace and confidence increased, for his first race in 2 years on a four stroke, first time on pirellis, first time with traction control, he was no three bad, but then again i was actually there, no in my comfy armchair!

Well said Stephen. Had the oportunity to speak to norge at the airport, and he said he was causious in the opening laps as he didn't know what the bike was going to do when he chucked it into a corner in dry conditions. He went from 21st on the grid backwards, and then to 12th, lapping in 1 minute 34 second bracket which only 9 riders in a 30 strong feild managed to do. Just looked the moto gp qualifying at indianapolis, and on an even playing feild he has provisionally secured 4th place. GIVE THE MAN SOME SPACE!!!!!
