As a matter of interest 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago

I was wondering if any members on the forum were told by marshalls that the racing was going to be run on the sunday?
I was spectating at the top of the deers leep, and my cousin who was sitting in a car in that area also was specifically told by a marshall that the racing was postponed until Sunday.
Weather is weather, there is nothing that can be done about that, but I was a bit annoyed about what this marshall had to say, my cousin was holding onto some hope for racing on Sunday "because he was told".
Anybody anything to add to this one ???

action was apparently taken, to see if it would be possible to run the event on Sunday... and you know how stories tend to get distorted...

After plan B was mentioned at 10:30 it was surmised by most people that it meant racing on the Sunday, this was taken further by the BBC reporters speculating that the deal had already been done and it was just a case of waiting until 12:30 to make the final decision and flicking the switch to Sunday, The BBC were not alone in this persumpion, as I don't think the least informed person would have thought that it was possbile to change the race at this late stage. Marshals, residents, churches, medical, timekeepers, gate keepers, programe sellers, scrutineers, riders, teams businesses in and around the circuit had all been set for the roads to be closed on the Wednesday Thursday and Saturday, many would have arranged for what was left undone during the week to be done on the Sunday. Ferries and flights would have to changed.
Having spent a year organising a race meeting Noel, in a vain attempt to save the meeting, the club and UGP, thought he could and tried to rearrange it in two hours, I think this was pie in the sky.
Hopefully lessons will be learned and if a Plan B is to be put into operation in furture years it will be a plan not a dream.

Hey Queenie - Mrs. Blade and I were told exactly the same thing by a rather over excited marshall who said the first race would be run at midday on Sunday. Probably the same marshall that spoke to your cousin.
