There Was A Rumour Circulating Just After The TT That Hutchinson Would Be Riding For McAdoo Again At The UGP, Due To A 'Fall-Out' With AIM. Don't Think So Now.

Hopefully AIM Yamaha Turn Up For Hutch, As I Don't Think Plater Is Doing The Ulster.

Can Anybody Shed Any Light On This?

Looks That Way Now, Unless Hutchy Stays With AIM, As All The Other Teams Seem To Be Pretty Much Sorted!

Cummins is a rider with great potential and we should expect success from him in the near future. McAdoo is a great team and I'm sure he'll be a success.

Cummins strikes deal with McAdoo

TOP Manx rider Conor Cummins has struck a deal to compete for the McAdoo Racing at the Southern 100 and Ulster Grand Prix road races.

The 21-year-old, who is nicknamed the 'two metre man' because of his height, burst onto the road racing scene last year when he clinched the Irish Senior and Supersport titles and also walked away with the Duke Road Race Rankings accolade.

Cummins will ride ZX-10R and ZX-6R Kawasaki machinery for the team and yesterday told the News Letter he hopes to make amends for below-par performances at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT races.

"I'm extremely pleased to be riding for McAdoo Racing and they come with a great package," he said.

"The bikes are really good and it's a great team to be involved with as well. I'm really confident in my own ability and I'm ready to move forward with McAdoo.

"I'm keen to make amends for the North West 200 and TT because because we had some difficulties at those events and I can't wait to get out on the McAdoo bikes," he added.

"I can't say anything beyond the deal I have at the moment to ride at the Southern 100 and Ulster Grand Prix, but if it all goes to plan McAdoo Racing would be a great move for me for the future."

Team principal, Jason McAdoo, confirmed the two-race contract had been drawn up after Cummins contacted the team and expressed his desire to compete in the distinctive purple livery.

"Conor got in touch with us a few days ago and the whole thing came together after that," he said.

"We weren't actively seeking a rider, but other riders had been in touch with us about the possibility of competing for us and there was another deal that was on the cards, but it fell through because it was starting to get a bit complicated.

"We have a certain criteria that we apply when we consider a rider and Conor ticks all the boxes. He is still very young at 21 and to win the Duke Road Race Ranking series in 2007 was some achievement at such a young age.

"He only made his debut at the North West 200 in 2006, but he seems to have been around for a long time," McAdoo added.

"After working with Ian Hutchinson, we know that it's beneficial to have a rider on board who has proved he can be on the pace at British championship level and that is always a good starting point.

"We've not committed ourselves to anything other than these two races but it's pretty open-ended and we may be able to continue with Conor, or maybe not."

The McAdoo team did not contest the Isle of Man TT this year after parting company with Dungannon's Ryan Farquhar.

The Southern 100 blasts off on Monday, with a host of star names returning to the Isle of Man for the popular four-day race meeting.
